Geneva graduated from high school in Gregory, S.D. She and her older sister, Marcella, attended Teachers’ College in Springfield, S.D. Upon graduation the sisters taught in country schools for a year, then moved to Rapid City where their family was. Geneva started working in a bank in Rapid City. She then met Boyd Harris, from Fairmont, who was an instructor in the Army Air Corps. They were married on June 29, 1945, in Rapid City. The couple then moved to Minnesota and eventually settled in Truman with their two children.

Geneva worked for Truman Public Schools until her retirement. She was the secretary for the high school principal. After retiring, Gene and Boyd enjoyed Rv-ing, crafts and gardening, just to name a few of hobbies. She read her Bible daily and was a member of Truman Church of Christ. Geneva was always ready to help. She will be greatly missed by many.
