Rollo Henry Kosbab was born on Sept. 26, 1936, to Henry and Lillian (Diekmann) Kosbab in Martin County. He was confirmed on March 22, 1952, at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop. He attended country school and graduated from Welcome High School with the Class of 1955.
Rollo was united in marriage to Genevieve Blom on June 7, 1959, in Ceylon. This marriage was blessed with six children, Dale, Robin, Jody, Toni, Tim and Chad. Rollo and Jen made their home on a farm north of Northrop. Rollo farmed for many years where he initially started with milking cows and raising pigs, however in the early ’70s he changed to a farrow-to-finish hog operation along with his crop farming.
Rollo was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop where he served on the church board and St. James Lutheran School Board. He was also active with the Lutheran Layman’s League and went on a mission trip to Mexico. Rollo was also in the Martin County Pork Producers, on the Martin County Fair Board and involved with the Orphan Grain Train. Rollo enjoyed being active on the farm completing any type of farming activity and especially on his tractors as long as they were green. He also enjoyed fishing, watching sports, especially baseball, and as of late he really enjoyed watching Patrick Mahomes perform on the football field. Most of all, spending time with his family was his greatest enjoyment in life, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his six children: Dale (Jacy) Kosbab, Robin (Steve) Bretey, Jody (Keith) Franck, Toni (Badger) Peterson, Tim (Loretta) Kosbab and Chad (Mandi) Kosbab; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Kosbab; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Kosbab, Richard Schultze, Barb (Larry) Schmidt, Gloria Martin, Judi (John) Krizek, Linda (Chuck) Westphal, Bob (Lynor) Blom and Lloyd (Paula) Blom; and many nieces and nephews.
Rollo was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillian Kosbab; wife, Genevieve Kosbab; mother- and father-in-law, John and Lillian Blom; sisters, Esther (Dorwin) Mohwinkel and Helen (Leo) Becker; brothers, Herbert (Lorna) Kosbab and Delbert Kosbab; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pat Kosbab, Margaret and Maynard Bettin, Julaine Schultze, Dave Fanter, Ronald Martin and Bill Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
