Wayne Alan Breitbarth, 40, of Waseca, passed away at his home on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca and will continue for one hour before the funeral service at the church. The service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, at St. John Lutheran Church in Antrim. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. dsofuneral.com

Wayne was born in Madelia on Sept. 5, 1982, to parents Alan and Catherine (McMullen) Breitbarth. He attended school in Truman and after graduation attended Ely Community College and Rasmussen University where he studied business management and human resources. Wayne worked for over seven years at Media Comm, and was most recently employed as a dispatcher in law enforcement. He made many lasting friends in the Waseca Sheriff’s Office, Waseca Police Department, as well as other police departments around southern Minnesota. He was a member of the Minnesota Police Dispatcher’s Association and was recently the recipient of a professional service award for his exemplary service to the police department during several high-pressure, high-stress moments in the community’s history. He was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Antrim. He enjoyed ice fishing, his involvement with Waseca’s “Fermentals” brewing club, collecting and using cast iron, running events and triathlons, off-roading in his Jeep and he loved all of his friends in the “10th Street Crew.”

Wayne is survived by both of his parents, Alan and Catherine Breitbarth of Waseca; two siblings, Amber (Joey) Bunyan of Jordan and Robert (Kim) McCorvey of San Antonio, Texas; five nieces and nephews, Savannah, Addyson, L.J., Kalara and Leo; beloved rescue dog, Ruby; his German family; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
