Don married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Kaduce on Dec. 13, 1958. To this union they were blessed with three children: Tamara, Kevin and Bryan. On March 30, 1985, Don married the love of his life Sandra “Sandy” Dammer. They made their home in many different places in Minnesota until 2018, when they returned to Don’s hometown of Truman. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church where they met their lifelong friends, Charlie and Robin Miller.
He started working in the banking and insurance field in Blue Earth after graduation. Don moved his family to Worthington where he started his own business “State Agency” for insurance and real estate. After selling his business, he worked for US Bank Insurance where he was located in different places in Minnesota until his retirement in 2017.
Don was an avid Vikings fan, always hoping for a Super Bowl win. He enjoyed golf, playing cards with his Truman crew, family and friends. He loved traveling, especially to various casinos. His love of travel brought him to all 50 states and many foreign countries. Don loved the outdoors, farming, gardening, fishing and hunting. He especially loved fall deer hunting with his sons, brothers and nephews.
His love for his family always brought him to many family gatherings and grandchildren’s activities. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa always willing to lend a helping hand with his children’s many construction projects.
