Laura Kueker

Laura R. Kueker, 91, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-South  Branch, rural Saint James, with the Rev. Matthew Rusert officiating. A time for visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Laura Rosa (Lange) Kueker was born Aug. 6, 1934 to William, F. Lange and Ella (Lupke) Lange. She was baptized on Aug. 19, 1934, and confirmed on May 2, 1948, at St. John’s Missouri Synod Lutheran Church of South Branch. She attended St. John’s parochial school in South Branch until eighth grade. She graduated from St. James High School in 1952. On Oct. 20, 1985, Laura married Adolph Kueker at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch, living on the farm and later moving to Truman. After 20 years of marriage, Adolph passed away after just moving to town.
Laura loved being with family and friends. Her closest friends were Lois Heckman, Carol Heckman, Sylvia Burmeister, MaryAnn Krumrei, Irene Keizer and lastly neighborhood friend, Shirley Rohman along with her granddaughter, who sometimes called her Grandma. Her faith and belief in God were always uppermost in her life. She was a lifetime member of her church’s Ladies Aid.
She will be missed and survived by her sisters, Beverly (Eric) Hirsimaki and Bert (Dennis) Geertsema; brother-in-law, Ted (Dottie) Kueker; nieces, Jenny DeWall, Amy Hirsimaki, Adrienne (D.J.) Kruzer, Jolene (Mike) White, Dawn (Scott) Halverson, Ramona (Steve) Hansen and Karla (Mitch) Doll; nephews, Dennis (Barb) Geertsema Jr. and David Hirsimaki; many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews of both the Lange and Kueker families; and two Kueker brothers-in-law, Ted (Dorothy) Kueker and George Kueker.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband Adolph; parents; sister, Florence Lange; brother, Wilbur Lange; Lange sister-in-law, Delores Lange; Kueker sisters-in-law, Annetta Sexe, Delores Brandt, Marthy Frank, Marcella Kueker, LaVonne Kueker, and Bonnie Kueker; and brothers-in-law, Martin Kueker, Vern Kueker and Gene Kueker. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Cemetery perpetual care fund or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
