March 24, 2026

Clayton Duncanson, known as “Bud” or “Buddy” to many, was born on June 18, 1942, to Homer and Alice Duncanson in Truman. He grew up on his family’s farm alongside a sister and two brothers. He passed away unexpectedly at home on March 22, 2026.
Buddy enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from Truman High School. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Mankato Commercial College, where he earned a degree in accounting. While in college, he met his first wife, Shirley Hobson. He started working as an accountant with Chesley F. Carlson Company in the Twin Cities. During this time, they built a home and together raised seven children.
After his first marriage ended, Buddy returned to Truman with his sons to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue farming. When the farm faced challenges, he took a position at Fairmont Foods, working there under its various names over the years.
While working at Fairmont Foods, Buddy met Marilyn Krueger. They were married in 1987 and welcomed one son together. Clayton later returned to crop farming on a part-time basis and continued farming well into his 70s.
Clayton was active in his faith community throughout his life. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman. He served for many years as a church treasurer, was a Boy Scouts leader, briefly coached Little League and contributed to numerous community events. In his spare time, Clayton enjoyed reading and playing cards.
