Sheldon Benoy
Sheldon Kay Benoy of Lakota, Iowa (formerly of Truman) passed away June 13, 2023, at his home. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at Bethel Church in Madelia.
Sheldon was born April 1, 1952, in Winnebago to Walter and Violet (Benson) Benoy. Growing up near Winnebago, he completed high school and went into the National Guard and then to Wadena College where he earned his degree as a linesman. Sheldon worked for the city of Truman as a linesman until his retirement.
He was united in marriage to Shelley Benoy on April 7, 1989, and together in 34 years they raised three children, Derek (Janee), Monica and Ashley (Jordan). He had a fierce love for his six grandchildren, Tyson, Tegan, Brooklyn, Madilyn, Ali and Carolena; and great-grandson, Abel. He rarely missed a game or event they were in. He was their biggest fan. He did a lot of fishing and camping. If you ever had the pleasure of sitting at his table you know he was one of the best cooks.
Three dogs, one parakeet (kind of), many fish and some other animals crossed paths in the home. Buffy was his favorite.
Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bruce; and father and mother-in-law, Russell and Flowrein Cramer.
Blessed be the memory of Sheldon K. Benoy. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left to www.oakcrestfuneralservices.com.
