Doris Lillie Caldwell died peacefully on Tuesday May 6, 2025, at Heartland Senior Living, Parker Oaks in Winnebago.
Doris was born on Oct. 16, 1930, to Alma and Gustav Wester. She married Arden Caldwell on Sept. 3, 1950, and they farmed in Amboy until 1983. Then they became snowbirds in Mesa, Ariz. They enjoyed almost 74 years together on this Earth and are now reunited.
She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain and play cards. Many friends and family have been blessed by receiving her embroidered dish towels or one of her hardanger creations.
She is survived by her sister, Elaine Harkens; children, Gary (Debra), Dean (Jane), Cheryl (Kim Anderson), Joel (Tami), Ray (Karla), Deepak (Deb); grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30–11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, at First Presbyterian Church in Amboy. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date at St. John’s North Cemetery, Vernon Center.
